IRISH EXPRESSIONS: Is it a boy or a child?

Long before PC culture took the world by storm - although it has to be said, it hasn't hit Ireland too hard yet - the question to elicit the sex of the newborn child was "Is it a boy or a child?"

You might still hear it from some old-timers or in some goofball Hollywood effort about some goofball Irish characters in a movie that bears very little resemblance to Ireland in the 21st century, but hey, I guess it is great Craic!
